Photographic treatment of 185 of the 200 species naturally occurring in Tasmania. Species entries are accompanied by full-colour photograph and include common and scientific names; identification information; notes on habits, voice, breeding and distribution; locator maps and tips on where to best see each bird. A species checklist is also included for field trips.

Biography

Dave Watts is an award-winning wildlife photographer. Based in Tasmania, he has worked as a forest officer in the UK and as a conservation officer with the Tasmanian Conservation Trust. His work has been widely published in leading Australian and international natural history magazines. Dave is the first photographer to ever photograph the rare Orange-bellied Parrot in the wild. Other books by Dave include Spectacular Australian Wildlife and Kangaroos and Wallabies of Australia, both published by New Holland Publishers, and Tasmanian Mammals: A Field Guide which has sold more than 10,000 copies.
