From the introduction:
"Southern France offers some of the best birding in Europe. There are flamingoes, egrets, terns, pratincoles and reedbed warblers on the Camargue, bustards and sandgrouse on Le Crau, Lammergeiers and Griffon Vultures in the Pyrenees and Eagle Owl, Wallcreeper, Snow Finch, Citril Finch and a variety of eagles in other sites such as the French Alps.
Although I had been to Southern France three times before, I felt I needed to up-date myself before writing this book. Therefore, en route to and from Spain in May/June 1994, I carried out a whistle-stop tour covering all the sites mentioned here in 2 periods totalling only 10 days."
