About this book

Language: Swedish

Fågelguiden (better known as the Collins Bird Guide in its English translation) is considered one of the best field guides in the world with its detailed descriptions of around 1000 species in Sweden, the rest of Europe, North Africa and parts of the Middle East. It is an obvious companion out in the field and an unbeatable knowledge bank for those who want to immerse themselves at home. A must for bird enthusiasts at all levels, as indispensable as the binoculars.

Now this standard work comes in a revised third edition that has been expanded by 32 pages. Many image pages have been redesigned and given new illustrations and the texts have been updated or rewritten completely. The sections on birds of prey, terns and loons are especially reworked. Fågelguiden has been published in over 20 countries and sold more than 1.2 million copies. A third edition of the English guide is due mid-2022.

The texts pedagogically describe the size, biotope selection, characteristics, variety and sound of each species. Symbols indicate how common or rare the species are in Sweden and clear maps describe the distribution during breeding, migration, and wintering.

The over 4000 beautiful illustrations show the species' different costumes plumages and how the appearance can vary due to sex, age, season, and distribution. Arrows and captions point out important features of the birds and many illustrations also show the birds in their typical environment.
