This monograph collects the contributions of various ornithologists who have studied the Iberian Chiffchaff. The chapters are based on the results of field studies, especially those based on banding, and analyze the phenology of the species, its biometrics, how to tell it apart from the Common Chiffchaff, its reproductive behaviour, its distribution in Spain and Portugal, data on reproduction and migration in different locations, and a Spanish translation of the original article published in the bulletin of the BOC by  Lars Svensson where he proposed a method to separate the Iberian from the Common Chiffchaff by combining a few measures. El Mosquitero Ibérico contains contributions by reputed Spanish ornithologists who have worked on the species, such as Javier Pérez-Tris, José Luis Tellería, Alex Onrubia, José Luis Arroyo, and others.

Also included are chapters on the Common Chiffchaff, in particular on the identification of the subspecies tristis and abietinus in their contact zone in Russia, a case study of an individual Chiffchaff in Poland with a voice that could be mistaken for an Iberian Chiffchaff, and a note on the mixing of songs between the two species.

El Mosquitero Ibérico is illustrated with many photographs of birds in the field, by Carlos González Bocos, of chiffchaffs in the hand, as well as of landscapes and habitats occupied by the species. Also shown are some highlights of the meeting held in Riellol, León organized by the GIA-León, which led to the publication of this book.

Monografía que recoge las contribuciones de distintos ornitólogos que han estudiado el mosquitero ibérico. Desfilan así por estas páginas los resultados de estudios de campo, especialmente los basados en anillamiento, que analizan la fenología de la especie, su biometría, cómo separarlo del mosquitero común, su datado y sexado, distribución en España y Portugal, datos sobre reproducción y muda en diferentes localidades, además de una traducción al español del artículo original de Lars Svensson publicado en Bull BOC donde propuso un método para separar el ibérico del común mediante la combinación de unas pocas medidas. Contribuyen ornitólogos españoles reputados que han trabajado sobre la especie, como Javier Pérez-Tris, José Luis Tellería, Alex Onrubia, José Luis Arroyo y otros.

También se incluyen algunos capítulos sobre el mosquitero común, en concreto sobre la identificación de las subespecies, sobre la zona de contacto entre las subespecies tristis y abietinus en Rusia, un caso de un individuo de mosquitero común en Polonia con una voz aberrante que podía hacer pensar en ibérico y una nota sobre los cantos mixtos entre las dos especies.

Ilustrada con muchas fotografías, tanto de los pájaros en el campo, de Carlos González Bocos, como de los mosquiteros en mano, así como de paisajes y hábitats ocupados por la especie, como algunas mostrando momentos de la reunión que se celebró en Riellol, León, organizada por el GIA-León, germen de la obra publicada ahora.
