The Schwegler 1FTH is suitable for all bat species inhabiting forests and woodland, providing a suitable summer roost site. The 1FTH integrates five roost chambers with different properties, both spatially and climatically, to suit a range of species. The conically tapered gaps in the front part of the box are ideal for smaller species such as pipistrelles. Larger species, such as noctules, will find suitable roosting areas in the more spacious sections of the 1FTH. Different chambers are interconnected allowing bats to change area without leaving the roost, several 1FTH roosts can be installed by carefully knocking the tabs on the side of the box. The 1FTH is constructed from long lasting Schwegler Woodcrete, making it ideal for long term mitigation projects. The interior is made from corrugated Schwegler Woodcrete and untreated corrugate plywood. This material allows the 1FTH to store surplus moisture emitting it during dry periods. 

The IFTH should be installed at a height of at least 3m using the specially shaped fixing bracket and screws provided. Due to its design the 1FTH is self cleaning, and inspection can be carried out using a torch or mirror, however the 1FTH cannot be opened to gain access to the main chamber.
