A 50mm mesh filter which screws onto the cod ends of plankton nets and open end drift nets. This overcomes the problems of organisms depositing on the net when bottles or rubber funnels are used. Organisms caught by the net are deposited on a mesh screen of the same material as the net itself. This can be unscrewed in the field and either washed off into a container for immediate re-use or dropped into a bottle for future examination. Regular washing in fresh, clean water is recommended to ensure the longevity of the filter.
