This report contains the findings from a rapid marine biological assessment of the Anambas Islands in western Indonesia conducted in May 2012. The scientists researching the area offer detailed accounts of reef communities, as well as information on the flora and fauna in the region, including several species new to science.

Riyanto Basuki is head of subdirectorate of marine area conservation in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
