About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Italian

This volume treats 124 species of Mediterranean marine mollusks. With this volume the series has exeeded 1000 species. In this volume there have been treated numerous species of some genera disregarded till now such as: Fusinus and Ondina among Gastropoda and Idas among Bivalvia. Also includes are specimens of the genus Raphitoma that, thanks to the help of well-known scholars of this group of molluscs, will hopefully be treated more thoroughly in the next volume. Amongst the most interesting species of Vol. VIII are Argonauta argo, that has been illustrated with a rare living specimen, and Melanochlamys algirae, Opaliopsis atlantis, Pinna rudis with its host, but also Polycordia gemma and Spirolaxis clenchi, or almost new juvenile forms such as Bursa scrobilator and Charonia variegata.
