The Stream Flow Meter comprises a collapsible impeller stick which connects to a digital handheld meter via a 1m cable. The meter has an LCD display which will show velocity in a choice of metres per second (m/s) or miles per hour (mph). The meter also comes with an integrated temperature sensor, allowing it to record water temperature as well as flow rate. The meter functions as a data logger and will allow you to record water velocity and temperature using either manual or auto-logging settings. When set to manual the meter will store a reading whenever the "Sel" button is pressed. When in auto-logging mode, the flow meter will take a recording at user-defined intervals (e.g. every five minutes). The data is stored as a CSV file that can be downloaded to a PC using the mini USB cable provided.
The calibrated impeller is supplied on a graduated pole for rapid deployment in the field. Three stream bed riser rods are also included to allow the water velocity to be recorded at fixed heights above the stream bed. The meter can record flow speeds between 0.05m/s and 1.5m/s.
