About this book

Language: French

Coordinated by the French fédération Étude et Protection des Oiseaux en Bourgogne (EPOB, the federation for Study and Protection of Birds in Burgundy), the 15th Special Issue of the scientific journal Bourgogne-Nature describes 187 species of breeding birds of Burgundy, a historical region in east-central France. This atlas, the first for breeding birds in the region, is the result of four years of work by more than 900 observers, volunteers and employees, followed by four more years of compilation and writing of 191 species monographs by 60 ornithologists from Burgundy. These describe in detail the distribution, ecology, history and evolution of each species, as well as the threats and conservation status of each of them in Burgundy. Nearly 250 distribution and abundance maps and 550 photos illustrate the book. Completed by a presentation of the regions and natural environments of Burgundy, a synthesis and analysis of birdlife, threat factors and conservation, this book is a reference work for bird enthusiasts.
