Bamboos of Meghalaya provides an account of indigenous and cultivated bamboos reported from Meghalaya. It includes the current accepted name of species with basionym and synonyms, if any, detailed morphological descriptions along with notes on habitat, cytology, leaf-surface SEM analysis and distribution within the state, India and world. One new variety has also been described in the book. The detailed illustrations, photographic evidence of identifiable characters and keys based on morphological characters to the taxa have also been provided. Identifying bamboos has remained a challenge for taxonomists and end users due to lack of good references, specimens, and pictorial field guides. The present book will not only help in identification, scientific and socio-economic utilization of bamboos of Meghalaya, but also serve equally to the adjoining states and countries as well.
