当今,由于经济迅速发展,海洋环境、沙滩受到污染,加上由于鲎的极大的经济价值,造成对鲎的乱捕滥杀,世界上鲎资源急剧衰竭,这已引起了世界各国政府的 重视。我国鲎资源的衰竭更是触目惊心。在上世纪70—90年代,在我国广西北海海城,每年鲎的渔获量可达60×10(4)~70 x 10(4)对,到近年已减少至30×10(4)对。如果这样衰减的速度得不到遏制,再过数年,我国将成为无鲎的国家,中国鲎或许将只能是存在于教科书上的 学名了。
本书作者自师从原厦门大学校长汪德耀教授从事鲎研究至今已逾30余载,深知鲎的重要性;感到有责任将多年来的研究工作总结整理成册, 以为我国鲎研究人员提供一点借鉴,以便后来者进一步加深中国鲎的研究,使我国在世界鲎研究领域中占有举足轻重的一席之地。这是本书作者的初衷和愿望。
