About this book

Language: French

The Lyon region in southeastern France is rich in Jurassic outcrops, particularly fossiliferous ones, and has always attracted the interest of collectors and researchers, especially in the nineteenth century, when iron mines and many quarries in operation offered a vast field of research. New opportunities offered by the exploitation of the Lafarge quarries and the observation of occasional outcrops in other areas of the Lyon region have allowed us to broaden our knowledge and clarify the stratigraphic position of many species.

Most of this work is devoted to the description and representation of the fossil fauna of the Upper Lias and Middle Jurassic of the Lyon region, and in particular ammonites, which are very numerous and varied in this area. Among them, several species have been recently created or are unpublished near Lyon. The most representative elements of the accompanying fauna are also presented.
