Botanical Singapore is a collection of watercolour and pencil illustrations of commonly seen plants and flowers. Executed in the style of the William Farquhar Collection, these drawings by artist William Sim also include his signature whimsical touch. Each illustration is accompanied by short succinct text giving its common name and a short description. Packaged in a handy size, the small hardcover book will appeal to natural history lovers as well as travellers and art lovers.
William Sim started painting from the age of 10 under the guidance of pioneer artist Tan Puay Tee. He graduated from Singapore's Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. William studied colour and form through formal training and started out painting and observing nature through watercolour. Over the years he has experimented with various media and exhibited his works regionally.
