WildKey provides a novel approach to biological identification and recording by utilising the power of mobile technology. WildKey consists of user-friendly keys that enable novices to identify species through simple prompts and images on handheld computers.
WildKey can be used by individuals for identification and recording in the field, by schools for biological fieldwork and by organisations to enhance the 'visitor experience' using interactive guides.
The first in the series, Butterfly WildKey, helps to identify British butterfly species.
WildKey has been developed by the biological recording software company Adit Limited and scientists from the Spatial Ecology and Landuse Unit SELU at Oxford Brookes University.
The software comes on a CD-ROM, for installation on a PDA (Pocket PC). Minimum requirements: Windows95 PC with CD-ROM drive, PDA.
