The new compendium is designed as a six volume set, illustrating the Neogene molluscs of southern Florida and the Everglades region, from Tampa south to Florida Bay. Altogether, the six volumes illustrate over 2000 species of gastropods and bivalves, both marine and freshwater, ranging in time from the middle Miocene to the late Pleistocene, and is the first comprehensive overview of the richest and best-preserved fossil molluscan fauna in North America. This volume contains a review of the regional stratigraphic geology along with detailed descriptions of the costal paleoceanography and paleoecology of Neogene southern Florida. In total, seven marine gastropod families are covered.
