This guide shows bird species recorded in the Greater Metropolitan Area, better known as the Central Valley, a plateau and a geographic region of central Costa Rica. Measurements are the total average length, from the tip of the bill to the end of the tail, of an adult bird. For some birds separate illustrations are included to show the different sexes, adults and juveniles, or breeding and non-breeding plumages.
