The Schwegler 2FTH is suitable for all bat species inhabiting forests and woodland, providing a suitable summer roost site. The 2FTH integrates five roost chambers with different properties, both spatially and climatically, to suit a range of species. The conically tapered gaps in the front part of the box are ideal for smaller species such as pipistrelles. Larger species, such as noctules, will find suitable roosting areas in the more spacious sections of the 2FTH. Different chambers are interconnected allowing bats to change area without leaving the roost, several 2FTH roosts can be installed together by carefully knocking the tabs with a hammer. The 2FTH is constructed from long lasting Schwegler Woodcrete, making it ideal for long term mitigation projects. The interior is made from lightweight Schwegler Woodcrete. This material allows the 2FTH to store surplus moisture emitting it during dry periods. 

The 2FTH should be installed at a height of at least 3m using the specially shaped fixing bracket and screws provided. Due to its design the 2FTH is self cleaning, and inspection can be carried out using a torch or mirror, however the 2FTH cannot be opened to gain access to the main chamber.
