About this book

This book traces the significance of Bardsey Island, off the coast of the Llyn peninsula, in north-west Wales; written by a renowned poet who knows the island intimately after living there for many decades. Christine Evans won the Roland Mathias Prize for "Welsh Writing in English" in 2005, and the Arts Council of Wales award for Book of the Year in 1989. This hardback book contains newly commisioned full-colour landscape photographs. It provides strong appeal to the tourist market in North Wales. Bardsey has been a National Nature Reserve for over 20 years, and hundreds of people visit the island every day during the busy summer months. Christine writes lyrically about physical and spiritual aspects of the island. She describes her experiences of living on Bardsey, its community, as well as documenting its history.
