The Bee Cell provides a small, single nest site for a solitary bee. Made from concrete, 75% of which is recycled from the Cornish china clay works, this small tube can be placed in a log pile, on a wall or windowsill, and can even be built into brickwork. Sealed at one end, the cell will provide a nest cavity for species such as red mason or leafcutter bees to lay their eggs. Once the eggs have been deposited, the bee seals the entrance with chewed-up vegetation or mud, and the offspring emerge in the spring.
Site at a minimum height of 0.5m in a warm sunny spot. A south-facing location without vegetation blocking the entrance is ideal. A number of cells can also be placed together in a cluster to provide nest space for several bees.
Available in three colours: white, charcoal or yellow.
