This book documents the Biodiversity of Vidyasagar University campus in the Indian state of West Bengal. The campus, which is located within the boundaries of a considerable green patch, provides an excellent ground for a variety of flora and fauna. An initiative to map the biodiversity of the Campus taken by Profesor Ranjan Chakrabarti, the vice chancellor of the University, opened up a Pandora's Box as it led to the discovery, identification and documentation of the diverse plants, trees, insects, and reptiles present on the campus grounds. This book seeks to capture in detail as many of those diversified species as possible, yet much is still left unexplored. Major steps have been taken by the University to conserve the biodiversity of the Campus.
