About this book

The Ecuadorian Northeast contains 26 Important Bird Areas that support over 1000 avian species. It is the hope of the author that Birding Northeast Ecuador provides the reader with the information that they need to enjoy a profitable birding adventure to this beautiful country. Northeast Ecuador is arguably one of the most biodiverse areas of the world, though it is also one of the least accessible, and reaching some of these areas can be difficult and expensive. Though the many reserves that dot the northwest are readily available via public transportation, many of the regions of the east are only reachable by river transportation or in a few instances by small aircraft. It is the object of Birding Northeast Ecuador to provide information on how to reach some of these areas while not putting too much strain on the budget of the avian adventurer. Includes maps, directions, and bird lists.
