About this product
The General Purpose Wood Concrete Bat Box is a tree mounted bat box designed to suit crevice and cavity dwelling bat species in the UK. It is constructed from wood concrete which is a mix of wood fibres and concrete which makes the box very durable and long-lasting. This material is also breathable reducing the risk of condensation issues and offering a more thermally stable climate for roosting bats.
It features two entrances, one on the bottom of the box which allows bats to crawl into the box from a tree, and one on the front which offers a clear flight path for bats. The entrance hole on the base of the box also allows the box to be self cleaning, reducing the maintenance required. The internal chamber is divided into two chambers, which can help with excluding small predators, and it features a domed roof to allow bats to form roosting clusters for warmth.

Quite fraglie

If you can't get a Schwegler 2FN or a Vivara Pro box these might be next down the list. Note hanger fits very loosely (isn't attached when the box arrives and has a tendency to fall off when the box sits waiting for putting up).
Boxes are not as robust in construction as others, we had four of six arrive broken. Material is noticeably friable on broken parts disintegrating. Reasonable design but could be better material mix used.

Handles are awkward, tend to fall off when erecting them and are heavier then the Schwegler equivalent

The handles (if they arrive with the boxes) are detached meaning them come off easily when erecting the bat box in the tree. The metal is also quite hard to tighten in order to ensure they don't come off. They are also much heavier then the Schwegler 2F and bulkier making them more awkward to install. I think some work on improving the handles is required for health and safety reasons.
