The distribution atlas presented here recollects all published data concerning the presence of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia und Halacaridae) along with an extended set of new records derived from projects of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST - former EVA, Centre de Recherche Public Gabriel Lippmann) (rhithral and potamal fauna) and the Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) Luxembourg (standing waters: coll. Dolisy 2005-2010, coll. Gerecke & Meisch 2011-2014; springs and interstitial: coll. Martin 2001-2005). For all 209 recorded species (4 Halacaridae, 205 Hydrachnidia) the authors present information about their biology and habitat preference. The state of the knowledge about their distribution in Luxembourg is documented as dots in distribution maps. For the most frequent species of running waters, the authors present the values of physico-chemical water parameters at their collecting sites. For the more frequent inhabitants of springs and running waters, the distance between the collecting sites and the uppermost spring mouth in their respective drainage system is documented.
