Written by local authors, this is the first complete monograph on the sedges (family Cyperaceae) of Spain and Portugal. This field guide is magnificently illustrated with photographs and plates with line drawings.
It presents an updated classification that includes easy-to-use dichotomous keys and numerous data that greatly facilitate the identification of the genera and species of sedges that grow in Spain and Portugal, including the biodiverse archipelagos of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Azores and Madeira. Diagnostic descriptions of the different taxa are also provided, as well as distribution maps and data on the flowering season, edaphic preferences and conservation status, in the cases that have been evaluated.
The genera treated in this work are: Blysmus, Bolboschoenus, Bulbostylis, Carex (incl. Kobresia), Cladium, Cyperus, Eleocharis, Eriophorum, Fimbristylis, Fuirena, Isolepis, Rhynchospora, Schoenoplectiella, Schoenoplectus, Scirpoides, Scirpus, and Trichophorum.
