About this book

Language: Spanish

The fifth volume concludes the families of dicotyledons, covering Rosaceae to Zygophyllaceae.

The authors maintain their commitment to produce an illustrated work, with at least one image per species. Each family has a genus key and within each of them, there are keys that take the reader to the species and, where appropriate, to the subspecies. Each species has an entry describing its distinctive morphological characters; this is followed by a paragraph dedicated to the ecology of the taxon and includes a phytosociological category. The last section is dedicated to chorology, where the general distribution is given, the distribution in the provinces of the community of Valenciana, and in the territory of Valencia. The entries end with the flowering period and give a category of abundance/rarity.

This fifth volume describes 24 families, 137 genera and 384 species, as well as 25 hybrid taxa. The most prolific family is the Umbelliferas with 52 genera, 103 species, and one hybrid, followed by the Rosaceae with 21 genera, 81 species, and three hybrids. This work does not include distribution maps, but they are available and updated on the website of the Biodiversity Data Bank of the Valencian Community.
