About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and French

This work, entirely translated into English by a professional translator, constitutes the first exhaustive iconography of this butterfly family in Guyane. It lists 475 species, classified into 83 genera: this represents more than a third of all Riodinidae to be found in the Neotropical biogeographic region. The butterflies are listed by tribe and depicted in images on 67 plates. The images include photographs taken of the Riodinidae in their natural environment. A text illustrated by the author describes the behaviour of each species. When conceiving this book, the author aimed to match scientific rigour with aesthetic appeal, with his son, a professional graphic designer, taking care of the layout. It's the result of thirty years of research in Guyane.
