This is the greatest work on fruit published so far, covering about 1,020 different types of fruit grown in Brazil (both native and exotic), all richly illustrated in three pictures: habit, floriferous branch and fruits, written by three of the greatest scholars and collectors of fruit of Brazil. Each plant is shown on an entire page with the description of its morphological characteristics, origin, time of flowering and fruiting, forms of use and propagation. The content of this work surpasses Frutas Brasileiras e Exóticas Cultivadas, published almost ten years ago, also by the Plantarum Institute. For the last decade the authors studied more than 250 new species introduced in the country's orchards.

Trata-se da maior obra sobre frutíferas já publicada, abrangendo cerca de 1.020 tipos diferentes de frutas cultivadas no Brasil (nativas e exóticas), todas ricamente ilustradas em três fotografias: hábito, ramo florífero e frutos, escrita por três dos maiores estudiosos e colecionadores de frutas do Brasil. Cada planta é mostrada em uma página inteira do livro, com a descrição de suas características morfológicas, origem, época de floração e frutificação, formas de uso e propagação. O conteúdo deste trabalho supera Frutas Brasileiras e Exóticas Cultivadas (publicado há quase dez anos, pelo Instituto Plantarum), pois na última década os autores estudaram mais de 250 espécies novas introduzidas nos pomares do país
