The Zoom H1n is an excellent field recorder which makes a great partner to your bat detector. The H1n has its own X/Y 90˚ microphones which capture high quality stereo sound, supporting up to 24-bit audio sampling rates of 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz in WAV format or a variety of MP3 formats. The one-touch button controls make it simple to configure your settings and operate the recorder, and its monochromatic 1.25" LCD display is easy to read, even in the brightest lighting conditions. A low-cut filter helps to eliminate unwanted low frequency sounds from recordings such as wind. You can also set the H1n to auto-record, pre-record, and self-time to ensure that you do not miss that vital moment. The H1n can be easily connected to a DSLR or video camera and it features a tone generator which can be used to provide a clear mark for syncing recorded audio and video in post porcessing.
It has a 1/8” stereo mic/line input which can provide plug-in power (2.5 volts) to an external microphone. Headphones can be attached via another 1/8” socket with a dedicated volume control. The H1n also has its own built-in speaker to enable you to listen to your recordings in the field. Its USB port provides a digital output of the stereo mix and allows data to be sent from your computer, enabling the H1n to be utilised as a USB microphone as well as a microSD card reader.
It is powered by x2 AAA batteries (included) which offer up to 10 hours of recording time. The H1n comes supplied with a Quick Start Guide to help you get recording quickly and easily, as well as free copies of the Steinberg’s Cubase LE music production software and WaveLab LE audio editing software.
