About this book

Language: French

Médecine Traditionnelle à Madagascar deals with "traditional medicine" in the south and south-west of Madagascar. In this oral society, plants of course have their own therapeutic properties but here the author also stresses the importance of the spoken word itself in the healing process. After an ethnographic study of these practices, it seeks to describe the logic that characterizes this region. These transformations are both internal, including linguistic, psychological and social; and external, with the introduction of biomedicine and religion.
