About this book
The first full account in English of Magellan's 1519-1522 voyage, making use of several first-person sources. Perhaps the most important project of its kind, it demonstrated that the world was spherical, and that the Americas were not part of India. Of the 260 sailors who set off, only 18 survived the rigours of shipwrecks, mutinies and starvation.
