This book systematically introduces the current status of international chronostratigraphic division of the Permian (299-252 million years ago) and the history and research progress of the Permian chronostratigraphic division in China. Detailed descriptions have been systematically sorted, revised and supplemented, and a simple and comprehensive comparison is made based on the most advanced international stratigraphic division standards. Based on the international and Chinese traditional Permian landmark fossil phyla, such as conodonts, ammonites, etc., combined with brachiopods, corals and plants, and with steps and fossil belts as the basic stratigraphic units, an atlas of landmark fossils was compiled. In the atlas, each genus and species is marked with the main identification features, origin and geological horizon, which can provide readers with intuitive information on identifying and dividing the age of the Permian stratigraphy in China.
