Résultats des Campagnes MUSORSTOM publishes papers and monographs on the deep-sea fauna of the tropical Indo-Pacific, focusing mainly on that of New Caledonia. Volume 17 of the series (which is volume 174 in the parent series Mémoires du Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle) deals with the deep-water fishes of New Caledonia. It includes papers on taxonomy and biogeography of 15 fish families: Moridae, Euclichthyidae, Carapidae, Ophidiidae, Aphyonidae, Macrorhamphosidae, Triglidae, Gempylidae, Bothidae, Triacanthodidae, Monacanthidae, Ostraciidae, Triodontidae, and Tetraodontidae. As a result, 85 species (17 new) belonging to 49 genera are described. The MUSORSTOM series is a joint program of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle and the Institut Français de Recherche Scientifique pour le Développement en Coopération (ORSTOM).
