The Fourth International Society for Seed Science Meeting on Seeds and the Environment held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China on  June 22-26, 2013.

The theme of the meeting was seeds and future. Participants from different countries submitted their extended abstracts for oral and poster presentations in various aspects as 1).evolutionary seed ecology; 2) seed dispersal, 3) Seed bank, 4) seed germination and dormancy, 5) seed longevity and storage, and 6) seed ecology, biodiversity conservation and restoration. After some editing, the abstracts were published as this volume.
