About this book

Language: Japanese

This book is the first volume of a three-volume project that describes the history of the evolution of life over four billion years and covers the Paleozoic. This book focuses on distinctive species that have appeared at a new stage of evolution and explains them with a wealth of fossil photographs and beautiful colour reconstructions. The Palaeozoic edition covers seven geological periods, from the birth of life to the emergence of synapsids, a group close to the ancestors of mammals. From the Precambrian period, when life began, to the Cambrian period, when a wide variety of multicellular organisms appeared, to the Ordovician and Silurian periods when trilobites, sea scorpions and fish flourished and vertebrates gained limbs and a foothold on land. The author has selected and introduced about 80 species that appeared in each era and are important in the history of evolution. The book is structured so that you can understand the flow of life's evolution just by following the creatures that appear in this book.
