Prof. Abd el-aziz Khairy Abd el-aal is a geologist and geophysicist professor. He is now working at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait since 2019. In 1999 He joined the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Helwan, Egypt. Formerly, he was the director of the Egyptian National Seismic Network (ENSN). He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geological and Geophysical Sciences with a very good grade with honours from the Faculty of Science, Sohag University, Egypt in 1992. In 2003 He received his M.Sc. in applied geophysics. In 2006, He was awarded PhD degree in applied geophysics. His research interests are mainly focused on engineering seismology, tectonics, hazard mitigation, seismic exploration and environmental sciences. He was working in shallow and deep seismic groups in NRIAG.
He conducted many shallow seismic profiles and site investigations in different parts of Egypt. The subject of his PhD is seismic risk reduction. He has worked in many field-related sub-disciplines of Earth Sciences including engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, tectonics, crustal deformation, installing seismic networks and seismic hazard mitigation. He has good experience in teaching seismic courses in many universities in Egypt. He has participated as first and co-author in more than 85 published papers and book chapters in internationally indexed and refereed scientific Journals and conferences.
