About this book

In this beautiful collection of images, award-winning wildlife photographer and filmmaker Sue Daly celebrates the stunning landscapes and fascinating wildlife of her home island of Sark, a small 2.1 mi2 island that is a part of the Channel Islands in the southwestern English Channel, off the coast of Normandy, France. From the natural treasures of the Gouliot Caves and Sark’s star-filled night skies to the seabird colonies on the off-shore reefs and the surprisingly colourful life beneath the waves, she reveals the beauty of the common and highlights the rarities among the wealth of wildlife living on Sark.

Biography

Sue Daly is an award-winning wildlife filmmaker and photographer born in Shropshire. As an art student in 1988, she took a summer job on Jersey where she reluctantly tried scuba diving (being barely able to swim!) and, much to her surprise, fell in love with the underwater world. She worked for several years as a diving instructor in Bouley Bay on Jersey’s north coast before realising that what she enjoyed most was taking a camera underwater. She has worked for various production companies, including the BBC Natural History Unit, and has also produced, filmed and presented two series of Wild Islands, a natural history series for ITV Channel Islands. Her underwater photographs have been featured in many natural history guides and diving publications as well as on stamps in Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and the UK.

In 2008 Sue moved to Sark and turned her photographic eye on the island’s landscape and the wildlife that lives above water. She lives with her partner Andy and has a donkey called Florence.
