About this book

Language: German

The grayling certainly does not rank among the most spectacular and famous river fish of Central Europe. Only a few natural observers have ever consciously observed them in their typical habitats, although they are among the dominant species. Just a few decades ago, it appeared in astonishing numbers. In the meantime, it has suffered a dramatic decline in its entire distribution range. This alone should be reason enough to deal more closely with this species. The authors have been dealing with the grayling for many years as fishermen, fish breeders and anglers. The results of their investigations are included in this monograph as well as the experience of other experts, and this book shows how even an unassuming fish species can be an interesting study subject when you know them well enough. The reader will get to know the grayling both from a zoological point of view, and from their dependence on the environment. He will get to know a fish that is still a problem for fishermen and anglers, but also a fish that is currently in need of protection.
