About this book

Language: German

Bugs, members of the order Hemiptera, form an extremely diverse group of insects and can be observed in almost all habitats. They live in parks and gardens, in forests, on meadows, dry grass or in bogs. They are often found on plants, even in the ground or in and on water. Most species are plant suckers or predators. The unloved bed bug and its relatives, on the other hand, are bloodsuckers. At first glance, bugs are not always recognizable as such, some species resemble beetles, other mosquitoes or ants. In this richly illustrated, practice-oriented nature guide, Dr Jürgen Deckert and Prof Dr Ekkehard Wachmann give a detailed presentation of over 500 of the most important and most common species of bugs found in Germany and give insights into their development, way of life and distribution. Attention is also drawn to the possibility of confusion between similar species. A list of all bug species found in Germany rounds off this identification guide.
