Bee recording in particular has been held back by the lack of an up-to-date comprehensive field guide to bees, as Steven Falk, author of the Field Guide to the Bees of Great Britain and Ireland, says on the NHBS blog. The British Wildlife Publishing field guide series goes some way towards helping more people record invertebrates, essential for insect conservation.
These field guides under the British Wildlife Publishing/Bloomsbury imprint are a continuation of British Wildlife Publishing’s celebrated field guides, which have an enviable back-catalogue of field guides to help identify, among other groups, butterflies, moths, micro-moths, and dragonflies and damselflies found in Great Britain and Ireland. We have included a few guides here that seem not officially marked as part of the series, but clearly follow the same layout.
