The Birds of North America

A series of accounts of all North American breeding species, published jointly by the American Ornithologists' Union and Academy of Naturalist Sciences at Philadelphia. Each of the 720 species accounts will provide comprehensive, authoritative summaries of current knowledge. Each is 12-32 pages in length, and has colour photo and map on front cover.
The 720 accounts will be published in 18 volumes of 40 species accounts each, to be completed over the next ten years. The accounts will be issued as a numbered series in order of completion. They will not be in taxonomic sequence, although there will be a regularly updated taxonomic index. Species accounts are not available separately, only as part of a complete volume.
