Bird Families of the World

This multi-volume series of handbooks is aimed at both the professional scientist and amateur ornithologist, and provides detailed species accounts and general family accounts, illustrated with colour plates and line drawings, and distribution maps. Although originally planned to encompass some 50 to 60 volumes, the series has become dormant after 17 volumes and there seem to be no plans for future volumes; the planned volume on tits and related species was cancelled in October 2014i.
