From the foreword:
"The call for comments from readers made in the foreword to Part 1 of this series of Bulletins on South Australian beetles has led to several changes. We would like to continue receiving comments, both from non-specialists who can suggest how the keys could be made easier to use (or who spot mistakes and omissions), and from specialists who notice errors in taxonomy or identification. These are bound to occur, since the author cannot have a special knowledge of more than a minute fraction of the beetle groups covered.
Changes involve substitutions of printed labels for the type-written ones previously used, omission of the top bar on each plate, some improvement in the quality of the photographs, and use of line drawings instead of photographs where the beetles are too small to provide clear pictures. Also, a glossary of technical terms has been added, since one reader pointed out that in some cases the illustrations were insufficient to explain what is meant by such words as securiform, cursorial; and so forth. This glossary will be usable with all the Bulletins in this series.[...]"
