Published in August 2003, the book Biodiversity in Belgium: A Country Study presents a panorama on the status and trends of biodiversity in Belgium. It also provides information on the major threats to biodiversity in the country.
The compilation of the country study is not an obligation under the Convention. It has been achieved as a response to a request by the Inter-Ministerial Cell for the Environment. Biodiversity in Belgium work is the result of a collective effort by all the major actors for biodiversity in Belgium. It has been coordinated by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, in its role of National Focal Point to the Convention.
