Dr Michael Leach is a full-time wildlife author and photographer. He has travelled to all 7 Continents and has worked with many of the world's most charismatic animals – polar bears in the Arctic, gorillas in central Africa, lemurs in Madagascar, sperm whales in the mid-Atlantic, monkeys in the Amazon, penguins in the Antarctic and elephants in Kenya. Michael has appeared frequently on both TV and radio.
Michael has written 36 books, these have been translated into 19 languages and are sold around the world. He has also written for a long list of magazines such as BBC Wildlife, The Observer, CountryFile, Country Life, Geographical etc. He spends part of each year giving talks to audiences at Science Festivals, Arts Festivals, Schools, After Dinner Events, Universities and other organisations.
The rest of the time he's an avid traveller visiting remote places tracking down new species of animals – or looking at the wonderful British wildlife closer to his home on the edge of the Peak District. As he says "this is what I'd be doing if I was rich. And as I'm not rich – I must just be lucky".
