About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Chinese

This red data book is divided into two parts: the general theory and the individual entries. The general introduction introduces the evolutionary history and status of amphibians, their diversity and protection status in China, the classification system and evaluation objects of this Red List, and the distribution pattern and protection status of amphibians in China. It furthermore introduces the evaluation process that is the basis of the Red List, the evaluation level and standards of the country, the establishment of the database, and the process of conducting preliminary evaluations, communication reviews, and forming evaluation reports. It then continues to summarize and analyze the evaluation results, introduce the threatened status of amphibians in China, and introduced the extinction, regional extinction and threatened species. The analysis was carried out to clarify the distribution status of threatened species in provincial administrative regions and their distribution and regularity at different altitudes, and to elaborate on the risk factors of amphibians, and to compare the status of threatened amphibians in China with the IUCN red list. Finally, the first part summarizes and reviews the effectiveness and prospects of the protection of amphibians in China, as well as the significance of the compilation and research behind this red list. The second volume contains the species monographs, which are the main body of the book. This covers 475 Chinese amphibian species and gives related information, including taxonomic status, evaluation information, geographic distribution, population status, habitat and ecosystem, threat factors, protection levels and protection actions, and related documents.
