This book deals with over 800 species of plants reported to be used in animal healthcare in India by rural folk in general, or in Indian tradition. The author has brought together, in this book, data in a very succinct form from vast and scattered literature on ethnobotany, or veterinary practices. For each plant, the botanical name, as now accepted, is given followed by the name of the family, local names, often also English names, a brief botanical description just to give an idea of the form or habit and flowers of the plant, and its medicinal use or diseases for which it is reported. The sources of this medical information are given to help the reader to get more details. For easy reference, the book has a glossary to technical botanical terms, and to diseases and medical terms.
