About this book

The Arabian Peninsula lies at the intersection of three major biogeographic realms: the Palaearctic to the north, the Afrotropical to the west, and the Oriental to the east. Its recent geological past and the great variety of its landscapes and climates are reflected in a complex natural history and a rich, diverse and unique fauna. The seas surrounding Arabia are among the most important repositories of biological diversity on earth.

This series has documented the animal species of this fascinating region since 1979. In this time, more than 1 450 new taxa have been described in this comprehensive and up-to-date reference work. Volume 21 contains a series of papers on arachnids, insects and mammals.
