About this book

Language: French with bilingual keys English and French

The Faune de France widens its horizon by providing, with this work, a fauna of the Overseas Territories, and not the least: the Province of Kerguelen, a group of islands in the southern Indian Ocean. It is difficult to travel further from here, as these islands bring us to the borders of the Antarctic zone. Certainly the fauna of these southern lands, with an extremely harsh climate, is not very diversified. Nonetheless, it is of great originality and has a certain biogeographic interest. This book deals with the order of beetles, introduced species as well as native fauna represented by many species of endemic weevils. This masterful work of scientific and artistic quality would not have been possible without the collaboration of four outstanding authors, accomplished naturalists and fine taxonomists. It deals in detail and allows the identification of the 61 species and subspecies of Coleoptera observed in this archipelago. The reader will also find a detailed biogeographical synthesis.
