This eighth part of the catalog to deal with the Carboniferous and Permian trilobites treats the subfamilies Phillipsiinae, Phillipps 1836, and Griffithidinae, Hupé 1953.

The Phillipsiinae includes 7 genera, 2 subgenera, 55 species and 10 subspecies. Of these, the following 5 genera have not been listed in the treatise before: Acanthophillipsia, Ameropiltonia, Breviphillipsia, Elliptophillipsia and Piltonia. In the Fossilium Catalogus (Hahn & Hahn 1972) 2 genera - Acanthophillipsia and Ameropiltonia - and 13 species are not yet available. The entire inventory of taxa is compiled for the first time.

The Griffithidinae include 6 genera, 36 species and 6 subspecies. Of these 2 genera - Hesslerides and Kulmogriffithides - have not been listed in the treatise before. In Fossilium Catalogus (Hahn & Hahn 1972) 10 of the species known today are still missing. Also, this subfamily is here shown completely for the first time.

Die Phillipsiinae umfassen 7 Gattungen, 2 Untergattungen 55 Arten und 10 Unterarten. Von diesen sind im „Treatise“ die folgenden 5 Gattungen noch nicht enthalten: Acanthophillipsia, Ameropiltonia, Breviphillipsia, Elliptophillipsia und Piltonia. Im Fossilium Catalogus (Hahn & Hahn 1972) noch nicht vorhanden sind 2 Gattungen – Acanthophillipsia und Ameropiltonia – sowie 13 Arten.
